I had a very disappointing experience with Expat Taxes. The software applied my taxes incorrectly, which resulted in showing that I owed additional taxes that I did not actually owe. It took weeks of repeatedly contacting customer service just to get a response about the issue. Even after that, the software still would not allow me to file my taxes at all. I already paid their fee—which is not cheap—but I can’t even use the service I paid for. To make matters worse, they are refusing to issue a refund. Overall, this has been extremely frustrating. Between the incorrect tax calculations, slow customer support, and a platform that ultimately didn’t allow me to file, the service has been very disappointing. I would not recommend using this company based on my experience.

We used MyExpatTaxes for a few years, and have ended up in a situation where we either owe unexpected money, have no contact with our preparer, or have untimely/unfiled returns. Completely unacceptable.

Really frustrating to go through the whole process online just for them to let you know that you have to pay even more than you expected for your filing. Tried to contact support but they were not helpful. Won’t be using this service next year.

I had a terrible experience with this service. Absolutely incompetent if a problem arises. Lost time and money. Would not recommend to anyone Suite à votre réponse: vous êtes clairement plus réactifs lorsqu'il s'agit d'un avis google que lorsque l'on vous écrit en tant que client (ce que j'ai bien entendu fait à de multiples reprises avant de laisser cet avis négatif). Je ne suis d'ailleurs pas sure d'avoir interagi avec une vraie personne... Bref, à mon avis, c'est un logiciel, pas un service fiscal avec des personnes compétentes!

MyExpatTaxes made filing my US taxes easier than I have ever found it. Their forms were clear and easy to understand. When I needed some clarification about one thing, someone was available to answer my question online. I felt supported throughout the process. I highly recommend this company. It was worth every penny of their small fee to use their services.

Modified review. After prompt follow up on my issue and complaint I have changed my review. Con list #1 Response can be slow at times #2 I purchased the "top tier" tax package, and you only get a very brief video interview 30min, so be well prepared. After that there is not a person to speak to live. You need to email support and wait. Pro: 1#High point was there web interface is easy to use. 2# Taxes were done well even with amendments 3# Tax specialist followed up with IRS on my behalf to make sure correction was made. Note: For Canadians. TFSA and RESP is managed personally by you, not by a group, you don't need additional forms

I had been looking for a way to file my US taxes abroad. All other providers were too expensive or complicated. MyExpatTaxes were very responsive to any queries I had and very easy to complete the forms. It took me a few days, as the taxes are complex. I am so relieved that I have found them and would definitely recommend them to my fellow expats. So much cheaper than the others.
